Though I have many eyes, I shun the light, preferring the company of worms rather than flies.

My skin usually seems dirty, but if you look inside me, you’ll see I’m pure white.

I’m incredibly versatile. Whether you put me in a casserole or a gun — I always aim to please.

9. Fit to be tied

I am a long snake tightly held in place, yet I help protect little piggies from harm.

I don’t mind being double-crossed, but if you are idle toward me, watch out! — your lips may soon kiss the earth.

I am an enemy to people with only one hand, and when I’m feeling frayed, I can be a real pain in the eyelet.

I’m a consummate artist: dancer, sculptor, and singer, though forms always get in the way of my free expression.

When I speak, I never tell the truth, yet I never lie.

I love working, and can sweep and whistle all day.

5. A cross to bear

I have but one spine, and many heads.

Though endowed with virtues (and quite bouncy to boot), I’m hated by most children, and adults avoid me too.
